6 Wicket Defeat
Oxfordshire lost their first game of the season yesterday (Sunday 23rd of May) at High Wycombe CC losing to Buckinghamshire by 6 wickets.
Buckinghamshire won the toss and elected to field first putting Oxfordshire into bat. Oxon last Harry Smith early at 6-1, as he was trapped LBW to Thomas Hampton. Tom Cosford and Tom Haynes put on a steady partnership of 54 before Cosford got dismissed for 41. Oxon then lost Haynes, and Ward in quick succession leaving them 74-4. Freddie Smith and Jonny Cater attempted to steady the innings with a 38 run partnership before Smith was dismissed for 23. Cater (41) and Tait (30) then put on 41 to help guide Oxon to 186 all out.
In response, Buckinghamshire lost two early wickets to Robbie Shurmer leaving them 39-2. Louth and Kervezee then hit 29 and 28 respectively before both being dismissed to Shurmer and Joe Thomas. Odgen and King then put on an 88 run partnership to guide Bucks to a 6 wicket win and take this year's Nurton-Yorke trophy. Odgen and King finished on 57 and 35.
