For the 2018 season, the Oxfordshire CCC Senior Management group have agreed that no player will play for Oxfordshire CCC (1st or 2nd XI) this summer without signing (and adhering) to the player's code of conduct, below.
General
• Remember it is an honour to represent your County and always regard it as such.
• As a County player you have a responsibility to set an example both on and off the field of play. In all the games that you play, not just the County ones, ensure that your behaviour is appropriate in respecting the opposition, the officials and, above all, uphold the “Spirit of Cricket”.
• Ensure that you are fit to play cricket and are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• You must accept that any breach of this Code is a serious matter and may result in you being formally warned as to future conduct, suspended or banned from future representation by the County Senior Cricket Committee.
Communication
• Please acknowledge receipt and respond to all communication from the Senior Cricket Committee with regards to availability for training and matches. If availability is not received, then we will assume that you are not available.
• We will not send out reminders or chase players in the future.
Time Keeping
• Always be punctual for matches and squad training sessions. Ensure you arrive at the ground at least ninety minutes before the match is due to start to allow time for a pre-match talk and a warm-up.
• Warm-up will commence seventy-five minutes before the start of play.
Dress Code
• Please arrive at the ground smartly dressed in the agreed clothing.
• Championship and one day games - County polo shirt and beige chinos.
• 20/20 games - County polo shirt, tracksuit bottoms and Hoodie or tracksuit top.
• Please ensure you wear only current Oxfordshire branded Serious Cricket warm up clothing throughout the day.
• Ensure that Oxfordshire clothing is only used when attending Oxfordshire events i.e. matches and training.
On/Off field Behaviour
• Always accept decisions on the field of play in a sporting manner without any show of dissent and don't question them off it, either whilst spectating or afterwards.
• Keep your emotions for the privacy of the changing rooms.
• When taking the field, the captain will lead the side out and everyone else will follow in an orderly manner.
• Avoid foul or abusive language and any intimidation, deliberate distraction, sledging or other act of gamesmanship, including over-applauding your own players.
• Respect the Opposition, Umpires and spectators alike.
• Always make a point of being polite and thanking everyone who has assisted with making a game possible: the umpires and scorers, the groundsman and the caterers.
• Do not criticise or complain about the ground or the wicket.
Behaviour on away trips
• At all times, and particularly on away trips, you must co-operate fully with and abide by the rules and guidelines laid down by your team management.
• Be in the hotel by 12 midnight and in bed by 12.30 am.
• Ensure that you represent the county and your teammates in the correct manner at all times and are polite to all members of hotel staff, Caterers , groundstaff and members of the opposition management and spectators.
• Ensure that you attend breakfast in due time to ensure departure from the hotel to the ground in good time.
Disciplinary Procedure
• Where players break this code of conduct, A panel made up from the management team will decide upon a proportional penalty. In some cases this will require a disciplinary hearing which will be communicated to the player 10 days in advance of the hearing date.
• A player will have 7 days to appeal against any decision to the Minor Counties Secretary, who will then arrange an appeal hearing with a panel of individuals not previously involved in the process. This appeal hearing will take place within 21 days of receiving an appeal and communicated to the player at least 10 days of the appeal.
